Project one

Here is my first Music Tech project. It centers around the 'clapping' sound, along with some kick drums, a snare drum, and a cymbal at the end.

I tried focusing on the starting instruments, but it all narrowed down to the clapping sound, because it stood out the most, so I made it the main idea. Kick drums and the snare drum were used to support it, and the cymbal at the end seemed to fit as a good way to stop the whole thing.

  1. Pretty cool loop, but i dont really like the way it is all based around that clapping sound. Although i do like the way the clapping sound is used, i do think it would have been better to replace it with a snare drum or some other sound like that for some of the loops. Also, i found it very hard to tell the loops from the fills and most of the loops did sound very similar overall.

  2. I like it. :)
Kinda reminds me of something techno.
By the way, nice long cymbal crash.

  3. hi alex, i really liked your drum loop. You said in your comment about the loop, I tried focusing on the starting instruments, but it all narrowed down to the clapping sound, because it stood out the most, so I made it the main idea. Well if you wanted to make it less narrowed, i would suggest you trun down the volume on the kick drum, just some friendly advice.

  4. Pretty nice loop. It immediately made me want to listen to Nine Inch Nails. I hope Dan doesnt take offence from this, but I think his advice is wrong, you should have made EVERYTHING louder (or I could just turn up my speakers), that would be intense. I think it would have been a bit better if the other intruments had been added in earlier, but it was a cool loop.

  5. I agree with Josh in that the clap sound used in this way is non-traditional, but you did explain in your post that it was your goal to build a loop around the clap sound, and you are entitled to express yourself however you want. I think it has musical merit. The rhythms between kick and clap balance each other nicely. Dan and Aeternailis both have a point in the balance of the loop. I think the kick is too loud, but only because the kick sound you chose has such depth to it. Let's face it. It's a big sound compared to that clap. Some mixing is in order.
