This new piece i made i consider a hybrid of techno and metal. Its got some spacey sounding stuff, and the metal guitar. Its got a bit of bass supporting it. I just realized that i didn't put any drums in this, but i don't think it needs drums anyway, because this already sounds good to me. I made some of the sounds, like the first spacey thing by myself using Sytrus. I found the guitars, and edited them to my liking so they sounded like this. Bass I used BooBass. I used the Riff Machine on everything, and i think it sounds pretty cool. Hope you guys like it.

I think the transition from techno into metal was really good, i also liked your metal guitar. But I dont think I heard drums at all, maybe you'd like to fix that. Over all good job.
ReplyDeletehey alex, i really liked your riff man. The beginning was very good with the techno/spacey thing, and the transition to the next part was good too. However, that distorted guitar part seems kind of randomly thrown in there in the middle, but you did a good job of re-incorporating it back into the song later. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteYou're right- in the beginning, you don't need drums. The synth was rhythmic enough, and the automation clip provided a lot of interest.
ReplyDeleteWhen the metal part begins, I think you need both drums and bass. A simple kick on all four beats goes a long way. I heard the boo bass in there a little bit, but I want to remind you this was about designing your own synths, not using presets.
Why didn't the two parts play together at the end? It sounds like they would play well together. Also, putting them together would unify your piece. As it stands now, there are two unrelated parts separated by an interval that sounds a bit like birds chirping.
I thought the ending was a bit weak.
That sounds really good. That beginning sound was really kool, sounded like your synth could be a wicked messed with bass. The guitar you went in (sounded like a few chords on distort) went really well, actually. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, Mr. Rabuse, but I think the high pitched noise and calmness led it into something else. The guitar sounded high, but that was the other end of the spectrum, I guess. I generally just like lower sounding things better. :) Dunno why.
Good job, though, Alex. I liked it.
Techno + Metal = Industrial Metal??? I Love the guitar riff, and the synth parts around it are good too, but I dont feel they are fit together well. I hear a (kinda flimsy, sorry) bass line and then all of a sudden this really cool guitar riff, out of nowhere. I think the enitre song before the first occurance of the guitar riff should be reversed. It should staart out quieter (high pitched synth) and then build up (synth that sounds kind of like a kick drum, played around with), fade in some distortion, or just noise in general, and the the killer guitar riff.
